In a team of five, we had just 48 hours to create a game based on a given theme. We kicked things off with a brainstorming session using a mind map, allowing us to get all our ideas on the table. Each team member circled their favorite concepts, helping us identify the most popular ones. From there, we experimented with combining different ideas and surprisingly, everything clicked into place! That’s how we came up with Catastrophe, a game about a cat trying to find its way home after a disaster.
Once the concept was set, it was time to bring it to life. My role focused on designing the backgrounds and creating the assets with another team member. Meanwhile, two teammates handled the programming, and the final member took care of the art, cutscenes, and music/sound design.
For a 48-hour game jam, I’d say we pulled off something incredible. I’m extremely proud of what we created!
